Changing Hair Colour - Photoshop

This is a follow up to my previous tutorial on hair so I'm using the image from that.
I got this from deviantart by a user called Faestock

I'm using the same technique from my eye colour changing tutorial, i.e. with soft light layers and a paintbrush.

So I'll do this in 3 parts, lightening, darkening and recolouring.

Lightening

Step 1:- create a new layer
Make sure it's the top layer within your layer list

Step 2:- Click on the paintbrush

Set the foreground colour to white

I've started by going over some highlights just as an example
Step 3:- Set the layer to soft light

This may make the highlights look a bit weird so double click the layer and click blending options
Step 4:- Use the blending options to alter the intensity

I found that this option worked best for me

Step 4:- I then went for an overall blonde with the paintbrush

Darkening

Step 1:- Use the inkdropper tool to select a dark shade of brown or whatever hair colour your original image is.

So I ended up with a really dark brown taken from the shadow near the side of her face

Step 2 :- Use the paintbrush to go over all the hair, however this may turn it a bit reddy.

So I created a new layer and went over the hair with a black paintbrush

Step 3:- I adjusted the black layer like so

And the brown layer like so

And my final edit looked like this

 Recolouring

So again create a new layer, set it to soft light and use a paintbrush, however this time I picked green to recolour the hair.
Now to take it down a bit as it looks unrealistic
so use the blending options to blend it with the original layer and it will take some of the original hair colour through

Pink Ombre
And here's a couple of other edits that I did with the same method.
A wee bit scene kid here
