Clipping Layers - A Quick Guide

Clipping layers is a really easy thing to do on Photoshop and I learnt it in seconds and was able to make these, one of my horse and one of my sister's

Step 1 - I'm going to do a basic one first just to show you, first open up a picture on Photoshop.

Here's one of my bedroom wall that I've cropped. (The posters are from when I was 15, so tht's why they are of Twilight, Avril Lavinge and High School Musical)

Step 2 - go to layer > new layer and this little menu should come up.
It'll create a new layer, but that layer will be in front of your image, so you will have to rearrange them, I had to unlock the bottom layer to rejig them.

Fill that new layer with a solid colour. I'm going with black as it'll make the letters stand out.
So if you hide the top layer, your base layer should look like this.

Step 3 - keep the top layer hidden and create a text layer in-between the two layers. Pick whatever text you like, I chose Tahoma Bold.

Step 4 - After picking the text you want to use, click on the image you're using and make it visible again. Then right click on it and click create clipping layer and it will automatically attach to the letters. You can still move this layer without moving the letters if you want to.

Step 5 - lastly flatten the image and then save as whatever file you like to use.
